The Farm House proposed for a retired scientist and his family in the countryside has been inspired from the traditional residential architecture of Kerala. The site is an island surrounded by paddy cultivating wetlands providing a beautiful background for a relaxing weekend or holiday at the farm house. The design tries to capture the essence of the vista around the site and provide visual connection to the outside environment from all interior spaces. The traditional design around the courtyard creates a simple program layout with different spaces opening to different directions, capturing the views and enabling efficient cross ventilation to cool off the tropical heat.
