A single family urban residence with limited site area and budget. The requirements included four bedrooms and four full bathrooms along with other living spaces, creating a challenge posed by most compact urban residential plots. Besides providing the demanded interior spaces, the compact footprint of the design was also able to scoop out front and rear gardens and a front yard that can accommodate upto two cars. The minimal design has a monolithic massing of concrete walls, broken by two brick walls juxtaposed perpendicularly. The unique 'matrix' brickwork create a pixellated effect on the walls which adds a playful character to the otherwise monolithic design.
The intimate private gardens follow a tropical theme incorporating local plants and thick vegetative surfaces. The garden patio, acting as a spill-over for the double height ground floor living area, make the relatively small living room feel larger and provides a space for relaxed conversations under the privacy of the back-garden. The setback spaces are also utilised as smaller green spots as in the case of the garden strip adjoining the dining room.
